Attorney Colleen Thomas is a dedicated legal advocate for clients throughout McHenry County and Kane County in Illinois. She received her law degree from Northern Illinois University, where she was the Assistant Managing Editor of the Law Review, as well as the recipient of numerous accolades for her work in the International Moot Court Competition.
During law school, Ms. Thomas also gained invaluable experience as a law clerk in the Kane County Judges Office and at a prestigious litigation firm in the city of Chicago. After passing the Bar in 1994, Ms. Thomas worked in civil litigation and appeals before opening the doors of Thomas Law Office in 1996. Her well-rounded experience in various areas of civil law and bankruptcy give her a unique skill set that is perfectly suited for family law cases, which often involve both domestic and financial matters.
Community Involvement:
As an active member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), the Dundee Township Rotary Club and former District Chair and advisor for the Rotary Interact Club, Colleen Thomas takes pride in community. She is committed to mentoring youth, and she is a member of several programs at Dundee-Crown High School, including the Internship program, Mock Trial team, Job Fair and Cooperative Education Program.
She has also participated in mock jury trial programs for the Boy Scouts of Kane County and has even worked in community theatre in Elgin as an actor, stage manager and assistant director. In addition to community service, Ms. Thomas is also an energetic political activist, contributing countless hours to numerous judicial campaigns for more than 20 years at the city, county and state levels.
